![]() The next market was the Mercado de San Fernando, where we tried some fantastic Cadiz specialities in Gaditaun with Marilina. More sightseeing was followed by olive oil and wine tasting with tapas in Mercado de la Cebada. The care demonstrated was exemplary, and really added to the pleasure of the tour. Chocolate con churros and porras in San Gines, after which it was hard to work out why more of the locals are not overweight! My wife is coeliac, and I'm not quite sure how it happened, but Cecilia managed to make sure that something special was available for her to eat at every stop. It was a beautiful April day, with only the four of us on the tour, and an ideal time to wander.Īfter some initial sightseeing, we had our first stop for breakfast. Bright, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, with excellent English, she was the ideal guide.Īs the name of the tour suggested, the four-hour tour took as around various areas in Madrid, with discussion of the history of the city and its people, mixed with stops at the markets to sample Spanish produce. We chose the Markets and Neighbourhoods tour, and we were lucky to have Cecilia as our guide. ![]() They'd previously had a great experience with a similar tour in San Sebastián, so we had high expectations that were definitely fulfilled. We were in Madrid for a long weekend, and one of our group suggested an Urban Adventures walking tour as an ideal way to get to know the city.
