![]() I added the red dot toward the end of the test program. I used the Burris Fast Fire 3 during this evaluation, but relied primarily on the sights for initial combat firing. There is no consistency that makes mounting a red dot easier-all have different footprints and use a different mount. This is the slide with the cover removed. Another advantage is that the Masada is supplied with four polymer plates to accommodate a number of red dots. A big plus is that the pistol is optics-ready.Ī cover on the frame, between the rear sight and ejection port, is removed and replaced with the proper mount. That is good, as strong magazine springs ensure feed reliability. The last couple of cartridges are difficult to load. The pistol is chambered for the 9mm Luger. There are mental elements and there are mental operations. Do it the NRA way by checking the magazine well first and then the chamber. Let the first step be checking to be certain the handgun is not loaded. Be alert and mindful when fieldstripping any handgun. Note: Humans misplace their keys, stub their toes and forget to zip their trousers. The trigger must be pressed and the piece de-cocked to field strip the handgun. I find manipulating the lever handier than the GLOCK-type takedown. The trigger guard is large enough for gloved hand use and squared at the front. The frame features a rail for mounting a combat light. This makes racking the slide more difficult, but on the other hand, the pistol was comfortable to fire with +P and +P+ ammunition. They are needed, as the pistol features a heavy recoil spring. The slide features both forward and rear-cocking serrations. The pistol has a robust heavy-duty extractor. The hammer-forged barrel features polygonal rifling. IWI Masada Design The polymer-framed, striker-fired Masada is a first-class defensive handgun. There are three frame inserts to accommodate many hand sizes. ![]() The high-visibility sights are excellent designs. The frame and grip are designed to make for a lower bore axis than most striker-fired handguns. Finger indents slightly shorten trigger reach. There is a slight curve in the backstrap. This grip frame offers good abrasion and adhesion. Given the well-thought feature set and the Masada’s pedigree, a lot of people will want to go and get their hands on one right away. The sides of the handle are treated as well. Anyone who isn’t attending the expo won’t be left out as IWI is taking the giveaway online. The package includes a Masada along with its accessories, two additional magazines, a LAG Tactical holster and a Vortex Venom mini red dot sight. Worth along with extras from LAG Tactical and Vortex. IWI is giving one gun package away at the 2019 NRA Personal Protection Expo in Ft. Of course one lucky Masada fan won’t pay a cent for their handgun. ![]() Looking online today prices are starting around $430 to $450 which isn’t bad and not too surprising for such a new gun from such a popular manufacturer. 308 Bullpup, the IWI Tavor 7 IWI, LAG Tactical and Vortex are giving away a complete Masada package. And magazines aren’t too expensive either at $29. The suggested retail price is $480 which is a lot less than guns with similar features. One of the main selling points for the Masada is its price. The trigger pull is set to 6 pounds which is right there with some of today’s most popular service pistols. Like most striker-fired guns in production today, the Masada uses a passive trigger safety and has no manual safeties. And the frame is relieved at the magwell to make it easy to strip magazines if necessary. Other solid design notes include a very large beavertail, an enlarged and undercut trigger guard, forward and rear slide serrations and a full-length accessory rail.
